Feedback from Participants:
"I've always hesitated to try yoga not only because I am just now finishing treatment of cancer, but also because of my arthritis, artificial hip, and inability to sit "crisscross applesauce" (as the kids say). After seeing that classmates in the Qigong class run by Healing Point had limitations too, I feel empowered to try things that might have seemed out of reach, and am excited to try yoga!"
"After we did the Qigong breathing practice, I had such a surge of energy and power-where was this all my life? There was very little that could get to me in that power sphere I was in, including a heckler in the front row of a seminar I was teaching. He just disappeared-it was amazing."
Yoga
Our restorative and therapeutic yoga program is designed for people living with or recovering from illnesses such as cancer, their families, and their caregivers. Classes include supportive movements and postures to nourish, nurture, and revitalize the body, breathing techniques that support healing, and guided imagery to increase peace and well-being. Yoga is known to increase lymphatic flow which supports the body in its healing process. Clinical trials show that yoga for cancer patients and survivors yields improvements in sleep quality, mood, stress, cancer-related symptoms, and overall quality of life.* Attendees of our program have reported increased energy, a sense of well-being, decreased stress and pain, decreased nausea, and improvements with cording and muscular tightness after surgery.

Often described as “meditation in motion,” Tai Chi and Qigong are a series of graceful movements that have been practiced for thousands of years in China to increase health and longevity. Though a fully functional martial art as well, in this class the focus is on meditation and health. Benefits include increases in peace and meditative mental focus, deep relaxation and releasing of stress, breathing for vitality, and improved posture and body alignment which aids in releasing held-tension patterns in the hips, back, neck, and shoulders. Long used for longevity and health in China, Tai Chi and Qigong are documented to bolster the immune system and aid the ability of the body to resist and heal from disease. As Dr. Oz said in an interview with Oprah, “If you want to live to 100, do Qigong...Qigong is the best longevity exercise.”
This class is sponsored by Healing Point in partnership with the Claudia Mayer Cancer Resource Center and will be taught by Brandon Hughes M.Ac., L.Ac.

Feedback from Participants:
"I have taken many qigong classes before but never had the movements explained in such a meaningful way. This class was fabulous!"
"I have taken qigong for years and never had it explained so clearly and engagingly. I wanted to take notes! Please write your book soon!"
“Bridget Hughes does so much more than teach Qigong! She explores the background, the benefits, how it helps therapeutically, the anatomy of the movements and how they affect the physical anatomy, the philosophy, bringing in Taoism and the stories of the origins of Qigong, Tai Chi and the martial arts. She helps students understand the benefits of the movements and she blends into her teaching healing approaches at the emotional and spiritual levels to address the entire person. And she brings fun into learning this highly beneficial practice.” -Richard Bredeson
"This class was so different from any other qigong I've taken. I love understanding the philosophy behind qigong and the hand movements-what they mean and why you are using them in that way."
"I had such a feeling of well-being after just one class."
"I love the spontaneous movements and the fact that I can do something to help heal myself."
“This Qigong class has an enormous asset-Bridget Hughes-who inspires, energizes, and informs brilliantly.”
"This class was very relaxing. I was having abdominal discomfort for days beforehand and haven't had it once since my first class."
"Peaceful, relaxing, I feel more in touch with myself physically. More aware of my body, it's feelings, and it's changes."
"Love the focus on my inner self. I did the practice the very next night while I was waiting for dinner to cook. My husband thought I was nuts walking in circles in the kitchen doing qigong! It has become part of my routine!"
"I breathe differently now. Even during and after Zumba I was doing my qigong breathing!"
"I stood today for the longest I've stood in 25 years!"
“I love leaving this class in a total state of glorious relaxation. You taught us to sense, increase, and dance with the chi. Thank you, I enjoyed every class and love the newness of each.” -Chris
“Qigong made me open my mind to new possibilities. I learned that energy and motion can change our body and how it relates internally and externally. Qigong is a calming exercise.” -Danielle Gibbons
“I particularly liked the personal interaction and relating the Qigong to individual issues. I liked the flexibility to adapt the moves, i.e., not a rigid doctrine.” -Fred
“I enjoyed the casual friendly atmosphere.” -Dave Daughters
"As a senior, I found this class to be accessible and stimulating but not overwhelming. I loved it!"

Past Healing Point Offerings:
A Mind-Body Approach to Pain
If you want to know how I used mind-body techniques when five 400 degree shards of glass fused to the aqueous humor of my eye and the result of those techniques which literally stunned the ER docs who removed the shards...
If you want to know how mind-body approaches to pain actually change the biochemistry of the brain and body (think of biting into a juicy, tart lemon-does your mouth water? Our thoughts can literally change our physiology)...
And if you want to know how to successfully amputate a phantom limb (proof that our mind can run a pain loop even when we don’t even have the body part that hurts)...
Come to A Mind-Body Approach to Pain!
Change your relationship with pain and alter the pain experience using the latest mind-body techniques. This presentation is given by Bridget Hughes M.Ac., L.Ac.
